1200dpi High Resolution

Microfine Droplet Technology^TM
One secret behind the superb quality and fine detail of the BJ-W9000's printed images lies in Canon's expert use of Microfine Droplet Technology^TM. Each one of the thousands of the tiny hair-width ink nozzles in the BJ-W9000's print head is precisely engineered to deliver a microscopic droplet of ink that never varies in shape and size. The small diameter and nearly perfect consistency of the ink droplet results in smoother curves and sharper definition.
 

Six Color Printing
The other secret behind the BJ-W9000's high image quality can be found in the ink itself. Canon's special printing inks are ultra-low density, making the already minuscule dot of ink appear even smaller and finer. The BJ-W9000 uses six colors of this ultra-fine ink, for smoother gradations and highlights than are possible with ordinary 4-colour printing.
 

Mirrored Chip 2-Way Printing
The BJ-W9000 employs a high-performance multiple print head chassis. Six chip, one for each color, are arranged two heads on one size of the chassis. Each chip contains 256 tiny ink nozzles, arranged vertically for maximum print coverage in a single pass of the head. The exact arrangement of color chips is mirrored on the two heads on the other side of the chassis, allowing the inks to be sprayed in the same order in both forward and reverse passes. The result is high quality output at very high speed: as little as 7 minutes for a full-color B0-size poster (using High Speed Mode).

High-Production Ink Tubing System
Canon has designed the BJ-W9000 for absolute dependability and productivity even under heavy continual use, with unique features to ensure high performance at reasonable resource cost. The ingenious ink tubing system is one example. Ink is piped from the large-capacity 650ml bottles (one for each color) to a temporary sub-tank. This allows you to replace the ink bottles as they become empty, without interrupting your current print job.
 

Ink Level Detection System
The BJ-W9000's ink level detection ensures that an ample supply of ink flows continuously throughout the system. Three electrodes in each sub-tank detect the level of ink, automatically re-filling the sub-tank from the main bottle when the level drops beyond a certain point (Level 3). Ink level is maintained at Level 2 as long as printing is in progress, and fills completely to Level 1 every time the printer is turned on or put on standby. If any sub-tank remains unfilled for an extended period of time, a message appears on the operation panel telling you it's time to replace the ink bottle. With each pass of the print head, a small amount of ink remains in the nozzles, which is ejected and siphoned away into an 1800ml collection tank. The waste ink detection system displays a message when this tank is full, allowing you to replace it with an empty one without interrupting printing.

Interactive Operation Panel
The BJ-W9000 takes special care of the most important area in the production process: the interface between the printer and its operator. The interactive operation panel lets even first-time users access all of the printer's advanced functions quickly and easily, literally asking you what you want to do next, and presenting your options in plain English (or your choice of five other languages).
