| Together with the
O.R.I.S. Color Tuner™, the EPSON printer family's new
microdot technology sets new standards for desktop proof devices.
O.R.I.S. Color Tuner™
color correction capabilities greatly surpass the ICC profile
technology standard of digital proofers. The basic color adjustment is
achieved using ICC profiles. Fine tuning to perfect the transformation
can subsequently be carried out with
O.R.I.S. Color Tuner™ sophisticated tools.
SWOP® Certification
SWOP®, Inc. has named the O.R.I.S. Digital Proofing system comprising
O.R.I.S. Color Tuner™
software, CGS media and CGS ink as the first inkjet system on Epson
printers to meet the publishing industry's Specifications for Web
Offset Publications (SWOP®) certification.
The O.R.I.S. system now offers certified contract proof quality from a
low investment system with even lower cost per proof, at breakthrough
speeds among SWOP® certified systems.

Global color corrections over the entire color area are made
with the help of tone value curves. The intuitive user interface
allows precise changes to the tone value curves.
Selective color corrections are possible even after ICC
profile matching. These corrections are not applied to the ICC profile
data, but to the color transformation tables calculated from it.
The convenient graphic user interface allows the selection of any
color value desired. In order to monitor the color value, it is
displayed as a tint. Two control boxes display the original and the
corrected color. In addition, the corrected percentage values and the
resulting color deviation are displayed in Delta-E. The desired
correction for each color value can be easily made using sliders.
In this way, specific color tones can be directly influenced without
changing the overall color impression. The action range, i.e. the
extent by which neighboring colors are affected, can also be exactly
defined. The graphic user interface enables the precise and intuitive
control of color correction.
Color Space Transformation
With the O.R.I.S. Color Tuner™
a defined color space transformation from CMYK to C'M'Y'K' can be
applied, which, for example, could become necessary for two different
printing methods. A test chart (IT8) is created with both printing
processes and the ICC profile of each process is determined (measuring
device: Gretag Spectroline; software for profile creation: Profile
Maker).
CGS RIP Technology
CGS's RIP Technology for the interpretation of PostScript/PDF data has
proved itself in many O.R.I.S. Page™
installations. Convince yourself of the performance capability of the
PDF/PostScript Interpreter
Error Handling
Errors, e.g. missing fonts, contained in PDF and PostScript documents
are recognized and written in detail to a log file.
Data Formats
The O.R.I.S. Color Tuner™
accepts PostScript, TIFF, Scitex CT and JPEG formats; separate
licenses are required for PDF, TIFF/IT-P1 and Scitex Handshake CT/LW
formats.
Hotfolder/O.R.I.S. PPD
Using the O.R.I.S. PPD (PostScript Printer Driver), the printer can be
started directly from any Windows application. You can also configure
a hotfolder to automatically transfer the data to the printer. Several
hotfolders can be set up with different configurations of data format,
color correction table, resolution, etc. This enables the creation of
highly variable outputs of various data formats with different color
adjustments.
